Veteran actor/dancer/choreographer Viv Moore’s solo show Worcestershire Saucy is sly and whimsical dance theatre.
The show is all about being English. Moore is an ex-pat who left England to break free of tradition, but who has recently been exploring her English roots. Worcestershire Saucy is Moore’s sardonic and wistful journey back in time that examines her conflicted feelings of home.
The episodic show presents Moore in a wonderful array of memorable characters punctuated by film clips of home movies and historical footage. The soundtrack potpourri runs the gamut from Vera Lynn to Elgar marches, while the dances are an eccentric blend of clog, English music hall, butoh, combat, contemporary and ballet.
Whether enacting a middle age gossip or an adolescent school girl, reading a fairytale about English heroes or having an argument with St. George, Moore is a delight.
Worcestershire Saucy is a show that gently mocks Moore’s past, but always with love.
Worcestershire Saucy continues at Factory Theatre Studio until Dec. 6.
