Hugh Jackman in Concert
Directed by Warren Carlyle
Performed by Hugh Jackman
Princess of Wales Theatre
Jul. 5 to 17, 2011
It’s not everyone who can hold an audience in thrall for almost two hours, but then there’s the supremely talented Hugh Jackman.
The Australian actor is more than a movie star. He is a very accomplished singer/dancer with all kinds of musical credits to his impressive list of films.
His solo show, Hugh Jackman in Concert, demonstrates what a charmer he is. The actor is blessed with a quick wit and a light touch with the audience. His songs are punctuated by life stories and a very amusing personal slide show.
The repertoire tends to favour Broadway songs, but there is also a very moving sequence dedicated to the Australian aboriginals. Jackman is accompanied by two fetching lady singers and a tight orchestra conducted by Patrick Vaccariello.
I’m sure every man or woman who left the theatre after the show would love to be his mate.
Hugh Jackman in Concert continues at the Princess of Wales Theatre until Jul. 17.
