This Week on Sunday Night at The Opera

This Sunday join Alexa Petrenko for an evening of Die Walküre, the second installment of Wagner’s monumental Ring Cycle, with Johannes Debus, music director/conductor of the Canadian Opera Company who conducts this opera for the first time in the COC winter season production.

We’ll explore the concept of the Leitmotif,  we’ll introduce you to the Wagner Tuba,  and touch on the logistics of directing singers over a massive orchestra and challenging staging….for example the Ride of the Valkyries…..
