Willie followers gather for his great predictions based on his “shadow or no shadow” forecast.  Willie is an albino groundhog with international celebrity status. The annual Wiarton Willie Festival is February 2. Since 1956, the festival certainly has evolved. Today, visitors can enjoy entertainment, food, fireworks to indoor and outdoor activities. Wiarton loves their beloved groundhog so much they have branded the town “Willies Basecamp” with visitors on Groundhog Day as well as through the year at Willie’s waterfront home in Bluewater Park.
