This post will be the first of two (possibly three) focused on the work of Anna Ancher, whose exhibition closed several months ago at the National Museum of Women in the Arts in Washington D.C. How I wish I had seen it!
I admit to being woefully ignorant of ANY Scandinavian artist outside of Munich and I feel shame about that ignorance. I know that I shall come to the end of my days without having experienced more than a taste of the wonders the world has to offer, but – after all – what can one do? There are loved ones to hug and kiss, friends with whom to lunch, and work – so many things – to do.
