Health, The Good Life
Everybody forgets things sometimes — from your keys to your lunch date to the name of an acquaintance. Dr. Gary Small, the director of the UCLA Center on Aging, says much of this forgetfulness can be eliminated easily through his innovative memory exercises and brain fitness program. He’s put them into a book, The Memory Bible, and he says his program can immediately improve your mental performance. He invented an exercise called Look, Snap, Connect. The first step is to look: to actively observe what you want to learn: Then you Snap: you create a vivid snapshot and memorable image. The third step is to Connect: to visualize a link to associate the images. Not surprisingly, he says a healthy diet, exercise, and getting plenty of rest — are also good for your mind..
