Safe Zoomer Sex

If you’re getting back into the dating scene after a long absence, it can be intimidating. And then there’s the prospect of intimacy with someone new. Lyba spring is a sex educator with the city of Toronto, and she says there are some pitfalls that are particular to Zoomers.

“Suddenly they’re out there again, and they don’t have the self-confidence they had when they were in their twenties, a lot of that might lead to them doing things that they would not normally do – for example: somebody who’s been in a relationship for a long period of time has not been using condoms for the past several decades. So when they’re back out there, they’re thinking ‘well, if I date someone who was also in a long-term relationship, I don’t need to worry about using condoms…”

If that’s what you’re thinking, you should probably think again.

“There Sexually Transmitted Infections that have no symptoms, and people need to know about that. So once you’re out they have to be practising exactly the same kind of safer sex communication as the young people do.”
