Weight and Sexual Satisfaction

Do you worry that your partner will stop being attracted to you if you gain weight? Researchers ran a study on weight and sexual satisfaction at Guelph University, and it turned that worry on its head, suggesting that it’s the worry, not the weight, that can turn into a problem.

After surveying men and women of all sizes, they found no correlation between body weight and a good sex life. The factor that mattered more was how a person felt about their shape. Regardless of their size, subjects had better sexual satisfaction and sexual functioning if they had a better body image.

The researchers don’t have concrete explanations for the finding, but they figure it’s easier to be present and focus on enjoyment if you’re not worried about the way you look. They also think a bad body image might limit you from enjoying the full range of activities with your partner.
