Here is the companion piece to the annual “Dirty Dozen” list that we’ve been bringing you. That is the ranking of conventionally grown fruits and vegetables that are most likely to be contaminated with pesticides. This is the Clean 15 – the types of produce that have the fewest chemicals even though they are not organic.

  1. Sweet potatoes
  2. Cauliflower
  3. Cantaloupe
  4. Grapefruit
  5. Eggplant
  6. Kiwi
  7. Papaya
  8. Mangoes
  9. Asparagus
  10. Onions
  11. Sweet peas – frozen
  12. Cabbage
  13. Pineapples
  14. Sweet corn
  15. Avocados

The list comes from the non-profit Environmental Working Group. They advise it’s safe to buy these conventionally grown items and save your organic food budget for things on that “Dirty Dozen” list we’re also bringing you this week.
