Toronto Symphony Youth Orchestra Celebrates it's 40th Anniversary with Mahler

Arts News2015-4-22By: Classical Staff

A few weeks ago on Sunday Night with the TSO, The New Classical FM host Kathleen Kajioka discovered that a funny thing happens when you ask TSO musicians about a performance they’ll never forget…for some strange reason, they all say Mahler. Listen to a podcast of that episode here.

It seems highly suitable then that the Toronto Symphony Youth Orchestra would ring in it’s 40th Anniversary with a performance of Mahler Symphony No. 1 at Koerner Hall on April 23rd.

The performance, led by TSYO Conductor Shalom Bard, will showcase a high-level orchestral experience played by talented musicians aged 12 through 22. These phenomenal young artists have been coached rigorously, rehearsing together for over 100 hours and performing seven public concerts throughout the duration of the training programme.
