The University of Maine is creating the Stephen King Chair in Literature.
The university is now collecting applications from English professors for the tenured position which is designed to honour the English Department’s most celebrated graduate with undergrad education as its central focus.
The 69-year old author graduated from the University of Maine in 1970 with a degree in English. His first novel “Carrie” was published four years later. King has been one of the world’s most beloved horror and fantasy authors for the past 40 years.
