With winter almost here, cities like Toronto are gearing up to deal with the snow and ice.
Toronto has about 600 snow plows, 300 sidewalk plows and 200 salt trucks to respond.
For those who’ve forgotten, didn’t know or have just moved here, the city’s top priority is to keep main roads clear.

Crews then move on to side streets; usually clearing those between 14 to 16 hours after a storm ends.
If you’re a senior or disabled, the city will clear snow from the sidewalk in front of your home where a sidewalk plow can’t go.
Most of these are in the older, central parts of the city where the sidewalks are narrower.
You can call 3-1-1 to register for the city’s snow clearing program.
