Canada is one of the few countries to meet World Health Organization air quality guidelines, but a new study suggests air pollution at any concentration is harmful.
Research out of the University of British Columbia finds that when comparing high and low-pollution areas, there is at least a five per cent difference in the risk of death.
The study is billed as the largest and most comprehensive to look at the relationship between air pollution and mortality in Canada.
