Golf Gadgets 2

Are you one of those golfers who’ll try almost anything to improve your game? With the season almost upon us, the Wall Street Journal has reviewed a couple of  golf-swing training aids. True, there are already enough of these gadgets on the market to fill a lumberyard, but these are brand new.
The SKLZ Gyro Swing, made by Pro Performance Sports LLC  and selling for $220 online, has a 20,000-rpm gyroscope in the clubhead that promises to help golfersmake the right golf swing without a thought. The battery-powered gyroscope in the Gyro Swing emits a hum as the device is slowly swung back and forth. If the swing gets off plane — as it does for most amateurs — the gyroscope fights to get it back on plane, and when it’s on plane it becomes almost effortless.  A second, simpler new swing trainer is the SmartStick, which sells for $229 online. Made by Grip It Golf , it is a bright-orange stick with small lasers at each end that are used to trace the ideal plane of a golf swing. By putting a club on the ground straight back on the intended target line, and then keeping the lower laser shining on that line, a golfer starts on the correct plane.
