On November 9, 1938, the Nazis carried out a wave of anti-Jewish violence throughout Germany. Today, that date is referred to as Kristallnacht, or the “Night of Broken Glass” … from the windows of synagogues, homes and Jewish-owned businesses senselessly plundered and destroyed. One of those businesses in Berlin was the Semer record label, a home for Jewish composers, songwriters, and performers.

On the anniversary of Kristallnacht, The New Classical FM broadcast this powerful radio documentary from Dan Rosenberg featuring Semer’s original vinyl recordings and the stories behind their creation and survival.
