I REALLY appreciate anyone who’s mandate is to make classical music fun, and (gasp) entertaining. It was always the tradition to be “respectful” of the music and approach concerts with a certain degree of reverence. And in some cases, that still makes sense (especially if something heavy and elegiac like Samuel Barber’s Adagio is on the program). Otherwise, I am loving the trend of creating videos of classical music with a humorous visual element.
Take a look at the Vivaldi Guys. There’s not a ton of info on them yet – I think they’re just getting started. I’m sure this will change as more folks view their YouTube video of Vivaldi’s Concerto in B minor for Four Violins (and electronic drum beat), adapted for two oboes. I just LOVE the bedroom slippers on curly-haired guy. Their moves get better and better as the video goes on.
They’re on Facebook here. Enjoy!
