Tenor Joseph Calleja as Macduff in the opera Macbeth with soprano Anna Netrebko

For this Sunday’s edition of “Sunday Night at the Opera”, host Alexa Petrenko focusses on composer Giuseppe Verdi and opera singer Joseph Calleja. In her words:

“One of the greatest opera composers of all time, Giuseppe Verdi, was born on October 10, 1813. We’ll celebrate with the recent Decca release by Maltese tenor Joseph Calleja, who has sung Verdi ever since his debut as Macduff in Malta when he was only 19. After two decades on the stage, he brings a program of four conflicted heroes for whom Verdi wrote some of the greatest tenor arias: Radames, Manrico, Alvaro, and Otello.”

Tune in to “Sunday Nights at the Opera” this Sunday, October 7, at 9 PM on The New Classical FM.
