Author Allan Levine was in studio this morning to talk about his latest book, “Seeking the Fabled City”, published by Penguin Random House Canada, a definitive and meticulously researched account of the Jewish experience in Canada. The story unfolds over 250 years, from the decade after the conquest of New France in 1759, when Sephardic Jews arrived in North America, through the wave of Russian and Eastern European Jewish immigration in the 1900’s to the present. Levine also chronicles the settling in Canadian cities, mainly Montreal, Toronto, Winnipeg, and Vancouver. He and Mike also discussed the paradox of progress being made – and yet not so much, given the current headlines.
