Chris McKhool, leader of the Sultans of String (and one of the most engaging interviewees EVER), sat down with Mike and Jean on “Classical Mornings” to dish about his upcoming tour which makes a stop at Flato Markham Theatre. The show, “Christmas Caravan”, is part of a concert tour promoting the Sultans’ sixth recording of the same name. Featured guests are Rebecca Campbell, Amanda Martinez, Donné Roberts, Ken Whiteley.

I’m a HUGE fan of taking standard holiday carols and putting a different spin on them. From fiery fiddle tunes to a Caribbean sleigh ride, this fun holiday fiesta heats up when Sultans of String bring their signature sound to well known gems such as Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring, Jesous Ahatonhia (with gorgeous newly-translated Indigenous lyrics), a Turkish twist on Greensleeves, Silent Night, as well as a Gypsy-jazz inspired Django Christmas, and a Rumba-Flamenca fuelled Jingle Bells.

Here’s a sample of what you’re in for, if you’re smart enough to grab tickets:
