It’s the first Sunday Night at the Opera of 2019, and host Alexa Petrenko has something new for you. In her words:

“While cleaning out my CD shelves to make room for the new, I discovered three discs by singers I had not heard of, and am happy to share with you three interesting young voices from across the ocean. Albanian tenor Saimir Pirgu started off singing Baroque music and Mozart, but has grown into French repertoire and Verdi, which he sings at major opera houses around the world. Italian soprano Amarilli Nizza is the one you will likely hear if you go to Aida at the Arena in Verona. And Chinese tenor Yinjia Gong, who idolized Swedish tenor Jussi Bjoerling, sings mostly in Scandinavia.”

Sunday Night at the Opera is at 9 PM on “The New Classical FM”.
