Tonight is the Mother’s Day edition of “Sunday Night at the Opera” with host Alexa Petrenko. In her words:

“For Mothers’ Day what could be fitting than a fabulous tenor, mentored by the great Cecilia Bartoli. His name is Javier Camarena. He’s the guy who recently had to encore Tonio’s aria with the NINE high C’s from “Daughter of the Regiment” at the Metropolitan Opera in New York. His Decca album ‘Contrabandista’ features arias you have probably never heard by the mysterious, rogue-ish and brilliant Manuel Garcia, as well as a gorgeous duet with Bartoli from Rossini’s ‘Armida’.”

Alexa will provide more insight into Camerena’s appearance at the Met, but let me tell you – I did some research and the ovation lasted nearly two minutes, which is why he did the encore (which literally means “again”).

“Sunday Night at the Opera” airs at 9 pm on The New Classical FM.
