Rene Pape – does he look like an opera singer or what?

May 26, 2019

Tonight we’ll be celebrating a true great in the opera world – Richard Wagner. Here’s what host Alexa Petrenko has to say:

“May 22, 1813 was the birthday of one of the supreme geniuses in the history of opera,  Richard Wagner, a perfectionist and visionary whose tonal language changed the course of history not only in music, but in the other arts as well.  This week we’ll hear the wonderful German bass Rene Pape, with Daniel Barenboim and Staatskapelle Berlin in magnificent Wagner arias from Die Walkuere, Meistersinger, Parsifal and Tannhauser.”

Sunday Night at the Opera airs at 9 pm on The New Classical FM.
