Mezzo soprano Julie Boulianne
It’s St. Jean Baptiste Day in Quebec on Monday. Here’s what Sunday Night at the Opera host Alexa Petrenko has in store for you tonight:
“In honour of St. Jean Baptiste, we’re going all-French this week, with a couple of recent ATMA Classique releases. We’ll hear Gabriel Faure’s sweet requiem, which he wrote to present the idea of peace, love and hope in the afterlife, with baritone Philippe Sly and, the Choir of St. Andrew and St. Paul. Since it’s only 34 minutes long, we’ll round out the hour with some of Faure’s loveliest songs, sung with piano by a quartet of excellent French Canadian singers, including Julie Boulianne.”
Sunday Night at the Opera airs at 9 pm on The New Classical FM.
