Tonight, let’s escape to the rolling green hills of the French countryside: Auvergne.  Here’s what “Sunday Night at the Opera” host Alexa Petrenko has to say about tonight’s episode:

“I can’t imagine summer without an idyllic musical getaway to France’s Auvergne region, with its verdant pastures dotted with shepherds, amidst shining lakes,  murmuring streams, herbed hillsides and volcanic mountains. Joseph Canteloube’s arrangement of local folk songs, his Chants d’Auvergne, capture the landscape in lush orchestral colour, with soprano Karina Gauvin and the Canadian Chamber Orchestra weaving a lyrical spell.”

“Sunday Night at the Opera” airs at 9 pm on The New Classical FM.
