Let’s get ready to party! The annual Taste of the Danforth is set to open tomorrow (Friday) until Sunday. While the focus is on Greek food – lots and lots of Greek food – there will be free family-friendly entertainment: Caribbean Jazz, Aboriginal Folk, Country, Pop, Funk Reggae, you name it – and lots more. The diverse entertainment reflects the city and province, while maintaining the festival’s Greek roots. What else? a Sports Zone, Kids’ Fun Zone, prizes to be won, a Beer Garden, and even plate-breaking!
GreekTown on the Danforth Business Improvement representative Howard Lichtman dropped by to chat about this year’s celebration of Greek culture. While plate-breaking is now outlawed in Greece, the tradition is very much alive here, and you can even write the name of a person you’re not fond of and smash the plate into a fireplace created just for the occasion. The Taste of the Danforth takes place Friday to Sunday, all along Danforth Avenue, which is right on the subway line. For more info, please visit the Taste of the Danforth website.
