This week on Dinner Classics, Cocktail Maestro Norm Owen introduces us to the Amaro Nonino. Considered the King of Amari, Norm tells us what makes it so worthy, as well as how best to drink it!
The traditional way is to drink it after dinner as a digestif. Just pour it over ice and add an orange twist!
It is also the base of one of the most stunning cocktails around:
The Beautiful Smoke
1.5 oz Amaro Nonino
.75 oz lemon juice
.75 oz 1:1 honey syrup (depending on your personal taste, or the whisky you are using, you may prefer 2:1 honey syrup)
.75 oz peated single malt whisky (e.g. Talisker 10, Lagavulin, Laphroaig)
Pour all ingredients in a shaking tin full of ice, and strain into a coupe. No garnish – just one tasty treat of a cocktail!
