Here’s what host Alexa Petrenko has in store for tonight’s “Sunday Night at the Opera”:
“This week we’ll revisit the watery world of Rusalka, Dvorak’s finest opera, drawing on La Motte Fouque’s Ondine and Anderson’s The Little Mermaid. On tonight’s show, Renee Fleming is the watersprite’s daughter who wishes to become human to win the love of the Prince, Ben Heppner in this case. She goes for help to the witch Jezibaba, sung by Dolora Zajick, a force of nature herself, and the inevitable unfolds to the most glorious music.”

The Canadian Opera Company presents Rusalka, starting October 12 at the Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts in Toronto. Sondra Radvanovsky stars in the title role. On til October 26, 2019.

Sunday Night at the Opera airs tonight at 9 PM on The New Classical FM. classicalfm.ca
