Stephen J. Adler, on behalf of “The Friends of Tel Aviv University”, swung by “Classical Mornings” to speak with Mike  about “The New York Cantors in Concert” tomorrow night at 7 pm at Beth Tzedek Congregation, located at 1700 Bathurst Street.

The New York Cantors are three of the brightest rising stars in American Jewish music. The New York Cantors, all serving synagogues in New York,  are Brooklyn-born Yaakov (Yanky) Lemmer, Head Cantor of the Lincoln Center Synagogue; Netanel Hershtik, Cantor at The Hampton Synagogue, Westhampton Beach; and Cantor Chaim David Berson, a native of Israel and Chief Cantor of the prestigious congregation Kehilath Jeshurun on Manhattan’s Upper East Side. This is the Canadian premiere of these three cantors performing together.

Listen to the interview here:

This special program, brought to Beth Tzedec in partnership with Canadian Friends of Tel Aviv University, will feature a blend of secular songs and traditional cantorial songs with new arrangements by Dutch composer Bob Zimmerman. The program also includes favourite secular songs evoking memories of Jewish tradition plus music with a nod to Broadway.

Leading all NYCantors touring worldwide is Maestro Andrew Kurtz, Conductor of the Gulf Coast Symphony, Ft. Myers, Florida.
