Marshall Pynkoski, co-artistic director of Opera Atelier, is a wonderful speaker and charming interview, so it’s no surprise he will return to Sunday Night at the Opera tonight with host Alexa Petrenko.
The great German romantic composer Karl Maria von Weber was born on November 18, 1786. This week the show revisits his most famous opera, “Der Freischutz” (“The Freeshooter”), where the hero seeks the help of supernatural powers to ensure that he shoots straight to win his bride-to-be. Marshall Pynkoski was a guest on this show during Opera Atelier’s 2012 performances, and he’s back to shed light onto this dark and eerie tale set in the German forest.
Sunday Night at the Opera airs at 9 PM on The New Classical FM.
