A gorgeous Baroque treat is in store for “Sunday Night at the Opera” fans with host Alexa Petrenko.
Here’s what Alexa says about tonight’s show:
“This week we commemorate the passing on November 21, 1695, of Henry Purcell. In his 36 years, he found the magic of expressing the energy of English words in music, in a big collection of songs and theatre music, and in his opera ‘Dido and Aeneas’. Our singer is the English soprano, Dame Emma Kirkby, famed for her voice of crystalline purity and her interpretations of baroque music. We’ll also include a bit of Bach, Haydn and Mozart from the Decca compilation of her complete recitals.”
“Sunday Night at the Opera” with Alexa Petrenko airs at 9 pm on The New Classical FM.
