For 45 years, Barrie & District Christmas Cheer has been supporting people in the community who need a little help at Christmas.
The organization helped 35 families in its first year of operation back in 1974. Today, that number has grown to over 1700 families in the Barrie area who now have more to celebrate over the holidays.
Each family receives a food hamper with supplies for breakfast, lunch and dinner for a week, plus a 12-pound turkey for Christmas dinner. There’s a bag of toys for each of the children, and teenagers get a gift card for the mall so they can shop with their friends.
