Today marks the 297th anniversary since the world premiere of Handel’s opera, “Ottone”. This event took place at the King’s Theatre in London, England. Handel assembled an all-star cast of famous opera singers of the day, and rehearsals entailed the usual disagreements and meltdowns, with singers demanding re-writes to suit their specific abilities.
Have a listen to the sprightly overture, the short piece that serves as an introduction to the opera. It’s a great way to start your Sunday!
