Tomorrow is the anniversary of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s birthday. Here’s what Alexa has to say about tonight’s “Sunday Night at the Opera”:

“In honour of Mozart’s birthday on January 27, we’ll listen to highlights from his late fairy tale opera, The Magic Flute.  I have a fantastic historic recording for you, with Nicolai Gedda in the role of Prince Tamino, who must get through great psychological and physical peril to win his true love, Pamina, sung by Gundula Janowitz.  She must escape the influence of her bad mother, the Queen of the night,  sung better than should be allowed, by Lucia Popp.”

“Sunday Night at the Opera” airs at 9 PM on The New Classical FM.
