Sunday Night at the Opera host Alexa Petrenko takes us through tonight’s show:
“Engelbert Humperdinck’s children’s opera Hansel and Gretel is based on the fairy tale by the Brothers Grimm … but is it really for children, and is it really even a fairy tale? Joel Ivany, who directs the Canadian Opera Company’s winter production at the Four Seasons Centre joins me to walk you through the dark forest and shed some new light on an old story.”
