Angel Wang, violinist and founder of the Canadian Chinese Society for the Arts, visited Mike and Jean at “Classical Mornings” to chat about her next concert coming up, “A Winter Waltz”. This concert features presents classical music in the Western tradition, familiar Chinese works and, in the theme of the evening, the elegant waltzes of 18th century Europe.
The repertoire includes “Winter” from Vivaldi’s “Four Seasons”, Sarasate’s “Zigeurnerweisen”, and highlights from Verdi’s Rigoletto with Canadian tenor Adam Luther. And a young, promising violinist will perform the 1st movement of Vivaldi’s Violin Concerto in A minor. “The Butterfly Lovers Concerto”, the most well-known and beloved Chinese work, based on a legendary tale will be featured, along with other repertoire familiar to the audience. Awesome visuals will be part of the concert, too.
