The New Classical FM Pet of the Week: Heinz

Station Blog2020-3-27By: Classical Staff

With everyone stuck at home, Heinz thought it a good idea to download Tinder. His profile reads: “Spunky senior looking to get back out there. Fan of Funday Sundays. Enjoy soft couches, snacks, and frequent scratches behind the ears. Vision impaired, but I know a good thing when I see it.”

Sweet and smart, Toronto Humane Society’s Heinz is looking for his very own seeing-eye-humans to help him navigate the world.

Heinz has a unique personality and is such a pleasure to be around. As a blind dog, trust is everything. He relies on his humans more than most other dogs, and forms a very special bond with those he has learned to trust. He builds his confidence in, and is calmed by, those who can lead the way and comfort him when he is feeling a little uncertain. It is such a joy to watch him break into a giddy strut on walks when he knows you’re there with him.

Heinz is looking for committed humans. Humans who will help when going on walks and navigating new places. He needs to trust his humans to guide him safely around obstacles (like doors, stairs, and sidewalk curbs) and will need their reassurance when there is a loud noise or sudden change of plans.

He is looking for lifelong humans who would be patient with him and willing to earn his trust day-by-day. His ideal people are energetic and eager, always willing to be there when he needs them. The ideal location? Probably not somewhere with constant noise and crowded spaces. Probably not the middle of downtown Toronto. Right now he is living in the west end and he loves it! Oh, and other dogs? Sure! He has spent time with two other dogs and they helped him build his confidence and even guided him on his walks.

Earning Heinz’s trust would be so rewarding. His confidence, both in you and the world around him, will steadily grow each day. Along with his confidence, his undying love and loyalty. Once he knows you are his leader, his companion and calming presence, Heinz will become his giddy, silly self. If you’re ready to become a seeing-eye person and full-time best friend, Heinz would love to meet you!

Heinz is living with his foster parents right now, if you are interested in getting to know him, visit his Toronto Humane Society profile here: www.torontohumanesociety.com/adopt-a-pet/dogs/43587461, or contact their adoptions staff at [email protected]com.
