The Good Life
There’s great news if you’re thinking of a holiday cruise. The soaring loonie means you’ll be paying less – a lot less than the 50 per cent premium you would have been stuck with if you paid in Canadian currency just two years ago. But you still have to shop around to make the exchange rate work best for you. The rise in our dollar caught several cruise lines off guard, and their brochures still show Canadian dollar prices based on old rates. Cruise agents say you could be paying as much as 18 per cent too much if you go for the posted rates. Some cruise lines are updating their printed brochures but in the meantime travel agents can arrange discounted prices. So be sure to compare prices.
