The Good Life

Amarone

If you’re interested in wine, here’s the owner of the Masi winery in the hills around Verona. Sandro Boscaini is a 6th generation winemaker, and Masi is the largest producer of Amarone in the world. This popular, full-bodied red wine has been made since Roman times. At a wine tasting dinner at Grano, Dottore Boscaini explained why Amarone is pricey.

“The wine is made with finely selected grapes, the grapes are drying for at least 3 months before being crushed and fermented, losing around 40% of the original weight.”

Boscaini is also big on the health benefits of red wine.

“Well I think that wine is a part of the diet in one sense. Drinking in moderation is really part of the Good Life.”
