Uncategorized2018-12-4By: Classical Staff

Host Alexa Petrenko is set to give us the background on an annual holiday classic. She explains:

“Handel’s most famous oratorio, ‘Messiah’,  marks the beginning of the Christmas season all over the English speaking world.  I’ll tell you the background behind it and play you highlights from the classic EMI recording with Sir Andrew Davis conducting the Toronto Mendelssohn Choir, the Toronto Symphony, and soloists Kathleen Battle, Florence Quivar, John Aler and Samuel Ramey.”

If you’re interested in hearing the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, the Toronto Mendelssohn Choir and opera soloists, perform Handel’s “Messiah”, concerts are taking place between December 17 and December 23 at Roy Thomson Hall at the corner of King and Simcoe. Click here to purchase tickets.

“Sunda Night at the Opera” airs at 9 PM on The New Classical FM.
