“The first day of fall, September 23, seems like the perfect time to revisit the beautiful fallen woman with the heart of gold,  Violetta. She is the heroine of Verdi’s La Traviata, who decides to risk everything for love.  Based on Dumas’ La Dame aux Camelias, Joan Sutherland sings the fantastic title role, with Carlo Bergonzi as her lover Alfredo and Robert Merrill as his disapproving father, Germont.”
