Right now, we’re taking comfort in music and nature (while social distancing, of course).

Here’s what’s on for tonight’s edition of “Sunday Night at the Opera” in the words of host Alexa Petrenko:
“With Earth Day coming, I thought I’d share with you one of my favourite things on this green earth, trees. They have a flourishing presence in opera and song , and I have landscaped an eclectic hour for you celebrating their beauty and the shelter and peace they provide as well as sparking imagination and memory. We’ve got a love song to a tree, we’ve got Desdemona’s “Willow Song” from Verdi’s Otello, some German songs about the Linden tree and the Nut tree, and in Richard Strauss’ Daphne, the heroine is actually transformed into a majestic laurel.”

Sunday Nights at the Opera airs at 9 pm on The New Classical FM.
