New Horizons is the theme for the 2021 Toronto Summer Music Festival, which will offer daily performances online from Thursday, July 15 to Sunday, August 1. In addition to performances of chamber music, art song, and dance by renowned artists, the 2021 Festival features kids concerts, and the return of the TSM Academy for Emerging Artists after a one-year hiatus. The TSM Academy offers exceptionally gifted young chamber musicians and singers, between the ages of 18 and 35, a full scholarship to study and perform with guest artists during the TSM Festival. All 2021 Festival online programming is offered FREE thanks to the generous support of TSM funders, sponsors and donors.
You can see performances such as Bach: Concertos & Arias, Schumann Quartet. From Modern to Mozart, and much more all online and FREE!
In addition to the online performances, TSM has announced a new series of live in-person concerts for the final week of the 2021 Toronto Summer Music Festival! Following the provincial guidelines, TSM will present in-person concerts from July 26 to 31, with limited audience capacity, at Grace Church on-the-Hill (300 Lonsdale Road). Tickets are $50 and will go on sale on Friday, July 16 at 12:00pm at www.torontosummermusic.com.
TSM Artistic Director Jonathan Crow spoke with Mark Wigmore on The Oasis to discuss the new virtual festival.
