Follies in Concert

Koerner Hall

An all-star cast of Canadian theatrical icons and orchestra perform the legendary masterpiece considered by many to be the greatest musical ever created. Surreal, sophisticated, compelling, heart wrenching, and epic in scope, including hit songs “Losing My Mind,” “I’m Still Here,” and “Broadway Baby.”

Dover Quartet with Davóne Tines

Sunday, October 24, 2021 – 3pm

Koerner Hall

The phenomenal Dover Quartet catapulted to international stardom following a stunning sweep of the 2013 Banff Competition, at which they won every prize. The Quartet’s rise from up-and-coming young ensemble to occupying a spot at the top of their field has been “practically meteoric” (Strings). With its burnished warmth, incisive rhythms, and natural phrasing, the Quartet’s distinctive sound has helped confirm its status as “the young American string quartet of the moment” (The New Yorker). As Strad observes, “With their exceptional interpretative maturity, tonal refinement, and taut ensemble,” the Dover Quartet is “pulling away from their peers.”

Gidon Kremer and Kremerata Baltica: From Bach to Piazzolla

Sunday, October 31, 2021 – 3pm

Koerner Hall

“Rarely do you see a group of top-tier musicians enjoying themselves as much as this chamber orchestra.” (Pittsburgh Post-Gazette) “The freshness of their performances and refusal to settle for routine programming continue to set them apart.” (Chicago Tribune)

Program celebrates 100th Anniversary of Astor Piazzolla and 75th birthday of Gidon Kremer with a special homage to our own Glenn Gould.

Jerusalem String Quartet with Pinchas Zukerman and Amanda Forsyth

Friday, November 5, 2021 – 8pm

Koerner Hall

“It is rare to find playing as beautiful … radiant warmth and feeling flowed everywhere.” (Vancouver Classical Music) Passion, precision, warmth, a gold blend: these are the trademarks of this excellent Israeli string quartet.” (The New York Times) Experience the melodic brilliance of this string quartet with special guests Pinchas Zukerman, playing both violin and viola, and Canadian cellist Amanda Forsyth in a program of late Romantic works.
